EMINEM – RELAPSE: REFILL

SUPERSTAR HIP-HOP ARTIST RELEASES HIS CHART-TOPPING ALBUM RELAPSE WITH FIVE UNRELEASED TRACKS TO TIDE FANS OVER TILL RELAPSE 2

Multi-platinum hip-hop artist Eminem will release Relapse: Refill on December 21ST, 2009, on Aftermath/Interscope Records. This re-release of Eminem’s chart-topping fifth studio album includes seven bonus tracks, including the single “Forever”, also featuring Drake, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne (previously found on the More Than A Game soundtrack), “Taking My Ball” (also released only with the DJ Hero video game), and five never-before-heard tracks.

“I want to deliver more material for the fans this year like I originally planned” Eminem says. “Hopefully these tracks on The Refill will tide the fans over until we put out Relapse 2 next year”. Eminem has been busy in the studio creating even more new material since Relapse was released. “I got back in with Dre and then a few more producers, including Just Blaze, and went in a completely different direction which made me start from scratch. The new tracks started to sound very different than the tracks I originally intended to be on Relapse 2, but I still want the other stuff to be heard.”

One of the most anticipated albums of the year, the platinum-selling Relapse entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart at No. 1 in May 2009 and sold more than 618,000 domestic copies in the U.S. in its first week. Relapse is also the top selling hip-hop album of 2009.

  1. Awesome!

For anyone who may have bought the original release of the album I wouldn’t suggest buying this only for the extra tracks unless you’re just a die hard fan then of course that’s fine. I would just buy them from the amazon mp3 store and save yourself some money. I did buy the CD album itself only because I hadn’t originally bought the first album so this re-release was perfect for me. I had heard the original album before and loved it which is why I really wanted to buy it when he released it again with more on it. The new tracks I haven’t been able to listen to much in depth but on a quick listen through they sounds pretty good to me. In my opinion this is definitely one of his darkest albums in terms of what the songs are about and things like that, but it’s still a great album just like all the ones before. Like I said, it’s a good buy if you havent bought the album already and now want it with the bonus tracks, or if you’re a serious fan/collector. Otherwise I would save some money and just buy the mp3s from the amazon music store.

  2. Just Download The New Tracks

Seriously, I know you bought Relapse already so don’t buy it again. Purchase the new tracks individually and your money will be more than worth it. Forget the Drake song, because you visited this page to get more Relapse, and that’s not it at all. The new tracks could’ve been some of the best ones if they were released on Relapse. I’m glad that this extra Em was just as deliverable as the L.P. Best track on the Refill is “My Darling” by far. It’s a concept song that reminds me why I listen to Eminem. It’s comparable to “Guilty Conscience” because Em knows how to make a conversation out of a rap, and he should do it more often. “Elevator” comes in a close second because of its slick production. It sounds like a little of the Eminem Show and a dose of “We Made You.” I’m liking this new beat approach, and I encourage producers to follow suit. My other favorite songs on the, what I’ll call and E.P., are “Drop the Bomb on ‘Em” and “Taking My Ball.” Those two are a lot more fun, while “Buffalo Bill” and “Music Box” are a little dark. Do not fear however, Refill offers no weak track. I was upset at the way they were going to release these extra tracks, but I’m grateful they went through with it. Just be smart and download them if you already own Relapse.

  3. A nice holdover while waiting for Relapse 2...

While I can’t agree with the decision to make these tracks available ONLY by re-purchasing an album that came out 7 months ago, the bonus tracks are (mostly) worth the hassle. Here’s a track-by-track review from a fan who’s been following Shady since the first underground leaks in 1998.

    Forever:

Only throwaway track, not worth the 4 minutes it takes to get to Em’s verse. This belongs on one of the B-Artist’s albums and not here.

    Hell Breaks Loose:

A good Em and Dre track. Dre sounds like he’s trying a bit too hard to switch up his style though.

    Buffalo Bill:

A solid, demented track with the lyrical quality we’ve come to expect.

    Elevator:

Might be the catchiest hook of Em’s career and the best of the bonus tracks. This was the right single to release.

    Taking My Ball:

Never been a fan of the poppy, celebrity-focused songs but it’s a decent track.

    Music Box:

Great intro, beat and lyrics. The bells in the beat make me laugh coming out around Christmas time…

    Drop The Bomb On ‘Em:

My favorite track on the album. It sounds like he got hungry again but ran out of people to battle.

  6. Drop the bomb on em...
    by M. Ottersboeck

…damn, this song, the beat, the heat, the lyrics are crazy. Dr. Dre & Eminem did magic on this one! This song alone justifies a second purchase, even though the other new songs are solid too. Can’t wait for Relapse 2.

  7. Great CD
    by jc

Eminem gets better and better with each CD. Check out Recover. It might be his best yet!

  8. Great.
    by Samuel Krutov

Sure it’s only 7 songs, but the quality over quantity method really shines in this. All of the songs are quality songs that are really great singles. Good tidbit to give a taste of what’s only to come from one the most successful artists of this decade, Relapse 2 and future projects look good.

  9. Awsome record.
    by Anarchist8

Well first off I got this record of of the Zune Marketplace. I like that method alot better than using Itunes. Love this record. The last record I bought of his was ‘The Reup’. Hated that one but this one is awsome. I took 5 Vicodin and 5 cold pills before lisning to it so I could be in the right mindset for listining to it. Im lisnin to it right now for the first time while hight on pain pills and it sounds alot better than when I listined too it sober. Anywayz………. Good record. I actully like it so much that I bought the record.

  10. Eminem - Relapse: Refill
    by Stanislav Vysopal

Eminem is a great performer, whatever is he doing. This album is not his best, but after 5 years silence, he made great records. He & Dre are working very great with music and you can hear their both chemistry still working 100% on the track from “Relapse” CD, “Taking my ball”. Buy it.
